Where do my colors go?

They are a layer of their own, under the lines, in vector. They never print on the page to color. After saving, the page shows "Your colors" when "See it colored" is on, the design's small picture in the Designs column is colored, "Save picture" saves your colors, and the button becomes "Change colors". Your colored pages are also offered on the cover (see Cover) and can be a colored example in the book.
