What does "Givens" mean (Symmetric or Anywhere)?

The givens are the numbers printed at the start. "Symmetric, the classic look" places them in a pattern that looks the same when the grid is turned upside down, as in newspapers. "Anywhere" places them freely. Jigsaw, killer, thermo and arrow books start with "Anywhere". Killer books have no givens, so the choice is not shown.
