I lowered the number of designs and some of my pages disappeared.

A smaller number removes pages from the end of the book, whatever they are, including photo pages and AI pages. Raise the number again to get new designs at the end (a removed photo or AI page does not come back: add the photo again or draw the page again). To remove one particular page, show it and click the bin in the page toolbar instead.
