I edited the JSON files in the book's sources/ folder and nothing changed. Why?

Those files are only a generation cache — exports read a different copy. This was a real trap in older versions. Don't edit files by hand: the in-app editor updates both

copies in one motion, so everything stays consistent. (Your earlier hand-edits to sources/ files were never used and can be ignored.)
